Casco Viejo and Casco Antiguo mean the historic district
Both names refer to the old-town San Felipe area. Panamá Viejo is the archaeological site farther east and is a different destination. When requesting a transfer, include the booked hotel and street rather than simply asking for Old Panama. The district’s boutique hotels use different arrival approaches.
Budget for the complete group
Use the current Casco Viejo zone estimate for a small private vehicle and compare the passenger band on each published source. A sedan quote may not fit three adults and several large suitcases. Confirm tolls, terminal meeting, waiting and any child seats in a single written total rather than treating a low advertised price as the entire journey.
Allow for the last approach
Our broad road window is 35–70 minutes after leaving PTY. It excludes airport formalities and can be exceeded in heavy traffic. Historic streets, events and temporary restrictions can change the lawful drop-off. Ask reception whether the entrance is accessible at your expected arrival and what luggage assistance is available if a short walk is necessary.
Return pickup needs a legal stopping point
Arrange the return with the actual street approach, flight departure time and airline check-in requirement. A rooftop venue, restaurant queue or plaza centre may not be a practical car meeting point. Keep your provider contact available, and reconfirm any street closure with the hotel before the car arrives.
